Star-studded concerts will not return to Sherwood Pines in 2021.

The announcement follows the cancellation of this year’s Forest Live event, amid the Covid-19 pandemic, when Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds, Jools Holland and co-headliners Will Young and James Morrison were due to perform on successive nights in June 2020.

A statement from the organisers said: “We have reviewed our whole Forest Live concert series and had to take this decision so that the Forest Live programme can continue to generate funds that will support Forestry England to look after the nation’s forests and woods sustainably.

“Forest Live concerts at Sherwood Pines have always had a magical atmosphere. Like many of you, we have cherished memories of seeing phenomenal live acts surrounded by trees and we miss seeing performances here.”

Stars who have previously played in Forest Live concerts at Sherwood Pines include Paul Weller and Jack Savoretti in 2019, Gary Barlow and UB40 featuring Ali, Astro and Mickey in 2018, Olly Murs and Tom Jones in 2017, Jake Bugg in 2016, Paloma Faith in 2015, Boyzone and Jessie J in 2014.

The statement continued: “We understand the news of our 2021 plans will be disappointing, but we hope to start working on other exciting events and activities for the future, so that you have other great reasons to come and enjoy the forest.”

Organisers have confirmed that Forest Live concerts will go ahead in these woodland locations in June 2021: Westonbirt Arboretum in Gloucestershire; Cannock Chase Forest in Staffordshire; Thetford Forest in Suffolk and Delamere Forest in Cheshire.
