The talented 16-year-old hit the headlines earlier this year when he wrote ‘Welcome to Mansfield’ about his ‘grey hometown’ during lockdown, which quickly went viral.
Still unable to perform due to gigs being cancelled, River has decided to get his creative juices flowing once more, penning a message to the people of his hometown about coronavirus.

Hide AdThe Shirebrook Academy student writes lines such as ‘put down your phone and have a COVID game plan’ alongside appeals to protect the elderly.
River explains: “The council wanted a view from a teenager rather than a politician.
"They listened to ‘Welcome to Mansfield’ and said I was really talented and that they wanted me to do something positive.”
