Shirebrook community come together in memory of 'lovely' Andrew Jackson

A murder investigation has been launched after the body of Andrew Jackson, 55, was found at an allotment just off Prospect Drive in Shirebrook on Sunday January 26.
Mr Jackson’s murder has caused shock waves throughout the community and residents have come together to organise a number of fundraising events to raise money for his funeral costs.

Hide AdKevin Potter, who had known Andrew for 20 years, is taking part in a sponsored head shave, and is accepting donations at his shop Forever Green CBD in the marketplace. The head shave itself will take place during a fundraising event at The Soldiers – Shirebrook Ex-servicemen’s Club on February 22.
Kevin remembers Andrew fondly: “He was a kind gentle soul, very polite to people, was always happy to help people out.
“He would have done anything for you and was very good-natured.”
Sarah Brooks, bar manager at The Soldiers explain the reasons for hosting the event, on behalf of all the staff who knew him:

Hide Ad“We are holding the fundraiser on February 22 in loving memory of Andrew, and to show how wonderful the Shirebrook community can be, despite the tragic circumstances to Andrews death.
“He was a much-loved, kind and gentle man and everyone connected to Andrew is deeply saddened by his passing.
“We want to show support to his friends and family and hopefully provide some comfort at this sad time.”
Since January 30, six people have been arrested on suspicion of Mr Jackson’s murder.

Hide AdA 51-year-old woman, a 44-year-old man and a 26-year-old man have now been bailed.
Three other men aged 27, 37 and 39 remain in police custody.
