Residents invited to leave extra bag of rubbish with next bin collection

As part of the Bag It! campaign, residents can leave an extra bag of general

household waste alongside their red bin during specified weeks.

Rolling out over two specific weeks, the campaign will allow residents to dispose of extra waste they have accumulated whilst in lockdown.

Residents of Sutton in Ashfield and the rural areas can place an extra bag

alongside their red lidded bin on their collection day on week commencing May 18.

Kirkby in Ashfield, Annesley and Hucknall residents can present a bag with

their red lidded bin collection week commencing June 1.

Councillor Jason Zadrozny, leader of Ashfield District Council, said: “Residents will be well aware of our commitment to cleaner streets. Your council works tirelessly to restore pride back into our communities.

“We’ve just had our most successful Spring Clean and but with many residents spending more time at home they’ve seen an increase in their general waste.

“Our waste teams have been working tirelessly over the past few weeks to ensure that all our waste services have continued to be delivered. We are proud that we are the only council in the whole of Nottinghamshire who has maintained a full bin collection service

“Yet again, we are going the extra mile and are delighted to offer residents the

chance to dispose of extra household waste. This will be on the week specified for your area, just bag it up securely and leave alongside your red lidded bin on collection day.”

The household waste must be bagged and not contain anything hazardous. Any waste related to coronavirus, for example tissues, need to be double bagged and stored in your home for 72 hours in line with government guidelines to protect our staff.
