Rescued cub fighting fit thanks to fox-tastic hydrotherapy sessions in Mansfield
A fox cub who was rescued after being hit by a car has been given a second chance thanks to the support of two Mansfield animal organisations.
Aptly named little fighter Chance is being cared for by the team at Mansfield Wildlife Rescue and is now enjoying a weekly dip in the pool as part of his hydrotherapy rehabilitation.
Chance could not use either of his back legs when he was found in the middle of the road but thanks to his weekly sessions at Mansfield Canine Swim & Splash run by Mansfield Canine Centre he is getting stronger by the day.
The hydrotherapy sessions are usually offered to support dogs with injuries, medical conditions, post-operative recovery, and long-term mobility issues but staff were only too happy to help Chance.

Nathan Edge one of the owners at Mansfield Canine Centre said : "He is getting on really well, he had his second session yesterday and it’s amazing to see how far he has come already.
"He is starting to get some movement in the back legs and starting to try and stand up on his own which is amazing in just a few weeks. It’s early days but to have such good results so early on is very promising.
"Swimming gives him the opportunity to gently use his body and build strength and muscle while taking the weight off his back legs.
“We’re so pleased to be able to play a small part in Chance’s rehabilitation and can’t wait to watch his progress.”

Mansfield Wildlife Rescue took the cub in after the resident who found him was told by two vets he would have to be put to sleep. Determined to give the cub a fighting chance he was taken to the rescue team who have put him on a course of anti-inflammatory and pain relief medication while working closely with their vet to assess the injury and plan the next steps.
Cheryl Martins, owner at Mansfield Wildlife Rescue said: “Sadly, the finder contacted two vets before reaching us and was told the cub would have simply been put to sleep. We’re so grateful they didn’t give up and kept searching until they found help.”
Speaking about the hydrotherapy Cheryl added: “A huge thank you to the team at Mansfield Canine Centre for offering these sessions for our beautiful little fox cub Chance, we have everything crossed it helps towards his recovery. This is the second cub we have had this year with paralysis caused by an RTC.
"Hope our other youngster is doing really well and we pray this beautiful boy will follow in her footsteps (literally) on the road to recover. Thanks again everyone for helping with his rehabilitation journey.”
