The Covid-19 pandemic has seen an increase in demand for the food parcels that are made up and delivered by volunteers from Let’s All Eat at the Ashfield Community Academy, resulting in the food bank needing funds and more drivers.

Chris Dawes, the president of Sutton in Ashfield Rotary Club, visited the foodbank after Rotary’s award of £3,000 to help feed those in need. The donation was made possible through a grant from the Sutton club’s district and Rotary International.

The foodbank is a not-for-profit organisation which was launched to heop people through this difficult time.

At its base in Market Street, Chris met manager Linda Smith who told him how the free produce provided by Rotary, supermarkets and other donors were made up into parcels and delivered by volunteers to those people in the community who were struggling to afford food.

Drivers are paid expenses to cover their costs. If you would like to become a volunteer driver to help this good cause, email Linda on [email protected], call at the foodbank in Community Unit 4 in the Market Place, Sutton in Ashfield or call 07867 451424.
