Popular Mansfield choir has a new man at the helm after chairman retires

Paul takes over from the retiring Geoff Hursthouse, who is stepping down from the role after three years and the committee thanked him for his guidance and residency in the role.

New chairman Paul has been a choir member during two periods of time – from 2012 to 2019 and then again from 2024.

He has spent most of his working career in sales and has a background in the military.

His return has been marked with keenness and commitment and his skills as a compere.

A choir spokesperson said: “We welcome him to his new role and congratulate him on the support derived from his fellow choristers.

"Paul’s enthusiasm for the choir, its standards and standing in the local area are a great source of pride to him and we look forward to his leadership over the next few years.

The new chairman aside, the committee was left largely unchanged following the AGM, ensuring a solid foundation for choir activities.

However, two new names were welcomed to the committee ranks – Alun Roberts as choir marshall, replacing Phil Millns who was thanked for taking on the role over the last year, and Trevor Dyson as a chorister member.
