Developers Piper Homes lodged the application for a mixture of two, three and four-bedroom homes, which will now be built at the site near Cauldwell Brook.

Piper Homes resubmitted a revised application in December 2019, taking into account the environmental concerns following he rejection of the plans in October.

More than 200 objections were received by the council on the original application, on the basis of traffic concerns, oversubscribed schools, visual impact, flooding, and the pollution of Caudwell Brook which is home to endangered white clawed crayfish.

Maun Conservation Group advised the council to refuse permission, to protect an abundance of wildlife in the area, including 43 types of birds, 21 types of butterflies as well as foxes, badgers and hedgehogs.

Martin Ellis, chairman of the Maun Conservation Group, made an impassioned plea at the previous planing meeting, stating that Cauldwell Brook had evidence of "protected species",

A spokesman for Piper Homes told planners that robust ecological assessments have been undertaken on the site, and at the recent planning review on March 9, the revised plans were given the go ahead.
