Nottinghamshire residents could soon be able to design and record their own funeral ceremony with the help of the County Council.
The Council’s Community Safety Committee was due to consider a ‘Living Eulogy’ service to assist people who wish to plan ahead and have their funeral wishes recorded and archived. This will be carried out by its registration service.
The proposed service will allow individuals to work with registrars to make their own choices about their funeral ceremony and take away difficult decisions family members would otherwise have to make at a time when they are coping with a bereavement. The ceremony plan will be stored at the County Archive and accessible to the next of kin or the person arranging the funeral after their death.
