We felt the need to channel some positive energy and celebrate the area's strengths.
Here are 10 reasons why being from Ashfield is great.
Can you think of any others?

5. Transport and travel
Ashfield is a great place for travel and transport links. It is conveniently situated by the M1 motorway, with Junction 27 within the district and Junction 28 just a mile outside of the area. We also have the Robin Hood railway, which links Worksop and Nottingham, running through the district with stations at Hucknall, Kirkby, and Sutton Parkway. The NET Nottingham tram system links Ashfield with Nottingham at its terminus at Hucknall and has the benefit of a large Park and Ride car park. Photo: Tracey Whitefoot

6. Ashfield Wellbeing Network
Ashfield's Wellbeing Network is a fantastic initiative in the district. Community partners collaborate to organise free events held at various locations across Sutton, Kirkby, Selston, and Hucknall throughout the year. Photo: Ashfield District Council

7. Arc Cinema at The Byron
The Arc Cinema in Hucknall is a popular spot for Ashfield residents and Nottinghamshire film enthusiasts. It is a great family-friendly place, screening all the biggest blockbusters, along with running a kids club. The cinema is also hosting a weekend of £5 tickets this September, with full details at: hucknall.arccinema.co.uk/news/19161 Photo: Photel Media

8. Pockets of green spaces
One of the things many residents love about Ashfield is that you're never far away from a park or green space. Whether you want to drive down the road and visit a country park, or enjoy a lunchtime stroll through picturesque pockets of nature, we have all of this and more on our doorstep. Photo: Sutton Lawn.
