Torvill & Dean, Olympic champions back in 1984, flicked the switch on a celebratory and also poignant night as this year marks the last ever Nuthall Christmas Lights after more than 20 years.
Tony Swift and his wife Wendy have been lighting up the front of their house and garden on Laurel Crescent since 2003.
And over the years, the event and the display has become more and more popular.
Over the years, Tony and Wendy have raised more than £250,000 for the charities When You Wish Upon A Star and Nottingham Hospitals Charity’s Hayward House Hospice.
And this year’s switch-on event alone saw more than £3,000 raised on the night, which was hosted by Rob Rose from BBC Radio Nottingham and featured live entertainment from Heidi Fletcher-Smith.
Posting on their Facebook page, organisers said: “A massive thank you to Torvill and Dean for switching on Nuthall Christmas Lights Finale and Heidi Fletcher-Smith for entertaining you all, along with Rob Rose for hosting the event.
"Also a big thank you to Stage Connections for once again providing all of the lighting and sound.”
"Thanks also to all of the helpers and volunteers for offering their help tonight, including all of The Showsec Stewards.”
The lights are on from 4pm to 9pm every night until January 1.
Santa's Grotto is open Fridays Saturdays from 6pm to 8pm throughout December and on Christmas Eve from 4pm to 8pm – there is no need to book, just turn up.
All children must be accompanied by an adult/parent.
There is no charge to visit Santa but donations to the charity fund are welcome.
