Nottinghamshire Police welcomes newest cohort of officers

Nottinghamshire Police has formally welcomed 18 new officers into the force.

The newest cohort took part in a pass-out parade attended by proud family members at Nottinghamshire Police’s force headquarters on Friday, February 20.

Sixteen detective constables and two police constables have completed a 25-week training programme and will now be deployed in response teams - the heart of uniformed policing.

Deputy Chief Constable Rob Griffin, who oversaw the passing out parade, said: “This is a proud day for these officers and their families, and it is fantastic to witness all this talent and enthusiasm joining the force.

“These new recruits will be proudly going out into the community and using their training to help people in their hour of need and thinking on their feet as new challenges are presented to them every day.

“They can all look forward to a demanding, unpredictable, and rewarding role and I am looking forward to seeing them make a real difference to Nottinghamshire.

“I wish them all the best of luck.”

The cohort includes a mix of experience – ranging from previous work in science and banking, as well as a control room operator. They each bring a varied skill set that will stand them in good stead as they embark on a new and exciting career in policing.

There are a number of entry routes into policing, with this particular cohort joining via both the Police Constable Entry Programme (PCEP) and Police Constable Entry Programme Detective (PCEP-DC) pathway routes.

The programmes mix dynamic practical on-the-job learning alongside academic classroom-based theory.
