Well-loved family pet, Ruby, originally a stray from Romania, suffered a broken pelvis on her left and right side, alongside a ruptured bladder, spleen and liver when she was knocked over by a car in Ollerton on Sunday, November 1.

The terrier was taken to a 24 hour veterinary hospital by Scott Austin, who rescued the stray originally from Romania, where she underwent surgery to have her half her liver and her spleen removed following the crash.

Ruby, who lives with Scott, his partner Natalie and their two young boys Freddie and Riley, also had a blood transfusion after she lost 35 percent of her blood internally.

Scott’s family are now fundraising after they were told it would cost nearly £10,000 in vet bills to treat Ruby and fix her pelvis, legs and hips.

While the young terrier has pet insurance, the six-year-old dog’s owners were told their insurance company would only pay up to £2,000 per injury – leaving them with a shortfall of nearly £8,000 to cover Ruby’s medical costs.

Scott’s sister, Lauren Ingram, 20, who lives in Ollerton, is urging people to help save their well-loved family pet who remains at an emergency hospital, by contributing to their donation page.
