Frenchie Frenchie has been a roaring success since Arran Hoblin and his partner Liam Giles opened the cafe last November, attracting more than 2,500 four-legged visitors and 10,000 people through the doors of the pooch-friendly haven.

Bceuase the new business “falls through the cracks” of government support schemes , Arran and Liam are fighting back with ambitious plans to stay afloat and expand the Toothill Lane business.

The crowdfunding campaign goes live at 12.30pm on Friday and the money raised will go towards another cafe, which like the Mansfield venue will be equipped with playthings to entertain the dogs, while the 'barkery' will sell doggy-friendly cakes, biscuits and drinks.

Arran said: "We were growing at a massive rate of knots, then this happens. We don't want it to scupper our plans. We've had such as amazing journey.

"We are building the brand and want to bring the experience we have in Mansfield to other locations."

The enforced closure has brought forward plans to launch an online shop selling treats and accessories.

Dog owners can buy branded harnesses, collars, dog hoodies, toys, and cologne as well as an extended range of things to eat and drink including pupcorn, dognuts, ChocoPaws and dog-friendly custard creams, Oreos and bourbons.

The crowdfunding campaign promises a host of rewards for supporters including doggy treats, car window stickers, an appearance on the wall of fame, and the ultimate prize - cutting the ribbon at the official opening of the second cafe.

If they hit their target, the appeal will be stretched to £50,000 for a third location.

"We've had visitors from Derby, Birmingham, Lincoln, Sheffield and Leeds - not just Mansfield. In fact 42 percent of our booked tables are from outside Notts," added Arran.
