Nominate heroes in the Ashfield community for awards

Residents and businesses across Ashfield that have gone above and beyond to support the community over the past year are set to be celebrated at an annual awards.

This year’s Discover Ashfield Awards reflect the Covid-19 pandemic with the introduction of new categories including ‘Covid-19 Hero’ and ‘Covid-19 Young Hero’, as well as awards up for grabs for health and wellbeing, science and best business.

Council lo r Jason Zadrozny, leader o f Ashfield District Council, said: “This year has been a challenging one for everyone and we want to recognise individuals, groups and businesses who have gone above and beyond to make a difference in our communities.

“If you know of someone who deserves recognition please take time to say thank you by nominating them for a Discover Ashfield Award.”

The closing date for nominations is Sunday, February 28.

The awards presentation will take place during March.

This year’s categories include ‘Health and Wellbeing Ambassador’, ‘Health and Wellbeing Project’, ‘Carer Award’, ‘Community Ambassador’, ‘Covid-19 Hero’, ‘Covid-19 Young Hero’, ‘Covid-19 Community Organisation’, ‘Covid-19 Business’, ‘Business Improvement’, ‘High Street Business of the Year’, ‘Science Award’, ‘Best of Ashfield’ and ‘Pub of the Year’.

Nominations can be made via the Ashfield District Council website, along with full details of all the awards.

The awards will recognise achievements between January and December 2020.
