Clipstone Food Store manager Fay Pardy said: “It’s amazing to finally be open and start serving the community. All our colleagues have been fantastic and we’ve loved speaking to customers.”

The store offers a range of services including groceries, baked goods, food-to-go options, chilled beers and wines, 100% British meat, takeaway coffee and a free-to-use ATM.

Open from 7am until 10pm seven days a week, the store has a car park with 29 spaces.

Fay said: “We have our own dividend card, which means members can collect and spend dividend, and our Community Champions fundraising scheme raises money for local good causes.”

The Community Champions scheme sees a donation made to a good cause every time a member shops with their dividend card. Colleague fundraising and the carrier bag levy also goes into the pot. Throughout August, money will be raised for Nottinghamshire Women’s Aid. From September, the Community Champion will be Autism Unlimited.

The new store is run by Lincolnshire Co-op, an independent co-operative society. The society mainly trades in Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire. It runs outlets including food stores, a travel agency and a funeral home in Newark.
