Meet Ashfield's answer to Joe Wicks as PE teacher launches lessons on YouTube
and on Freeview 262 or Freely 565
Sam Geeson, who teaches at Morven Park Primary School in Kirkby, aims to put out around four short videos a week featuring challenges, live workouts and lesson-based content.
‘PE with Mr Geeson’ started out as a small project with Morven Park pupils in mind, but was soon being shared by schools up and down the district- now children as far away as Hereford are getting involved.

“It’s really important to stay active and look after your wellbeing.
“Joe Wicks’s videos are great but they are mostly fitness HIIT session based- I was keen my videos feature a mix of education as well as fitness.
“They are also mixed in terms of ability, so there are videos suitable for KS1 and KS2 children, as well as pupils up to secondary school.”

Hide AdThere are times when the lockdown has meant Mr Geeson has had to great creative, devising activities where household items can be used.
“For example, some of my videos centre around tennis, but not every child will have access to tennis rackets- so I encourage them to use a frying pan and some socks rolled up to make a ball.
“We have a handful of children still coming into school and one of them told me that’s just what he’d been doing, using his mum’s frying pan.
“It would be easy to print out a worksheet with instructions for the children, but most of them don’t learn this way. They’re much more likely to engage with a video and that’s why I’ve kept them on the shorter side.
