Marina Rose, from Mansfield, has been a support worker for four years, and decided to use her experience to reach out to the local community.

The 20-year-old began by posting ‘viral kindness’ cards through the doors of those she knew may be feeling isolated during lockdown, stating she was available for either a friendly phone call, or to do their shopping.

She targeted the homes of the elderly, those who are shielding, pregnant ladies and families with newborn babies.

Marina explains: “I suffer with my own mental health, so I understand how difficult it must be for everyone suddenly being cut off from their support network.

“I wanted to be there as a friendly voice, someone who understands, and to make sure people have everything they need.

“It’s so lovely hearing how grateful people are – they always seem so shocked that I’m taking the time to help.”

Marina still continues to work as a support worker during lockdown, but hopes to continue helping others during her spare time.

She has covered the Mansfield area so far, and plans to move further afield next week, in her campaign to ensure nobody feels alone.

She continued: “I know those suffering with anxiety are struggling at the moment, so if I can help by doing their shopping for them, then that’s great.

“I just love helping people.”
