With the current November lockdown meaning their usual fundraising routes are unable to continue, they are asking for a ‘lockdown lifeline’ to ensure they can continue to provide the same level of care to all the dogs needing their help.

Martina Martin, finance officer for the rescue centre explains: “This year has been, without a shadow of a doubt, the hardest year we have faced as a charity, in our 60 year history.

"We have seen huge projected financial losses and had to make heart-wrenching decisions to ensure we can continue our vital work.

"As an animal welfare charity we do not qualify for the majority of the support grants offered to charities by the government.

“Unfortunately now, with all prospects of community fundraising gone, the time has come where we need to ask for help.”

It costs £96,000 to run their remaining four centres for just one month and, although their teams are working valiantly to raise funds, they need your help.

Martina continues: “Our staff get dressed and come to work today to do what they always do, be the heroes that our dogs need, to give them hope of finding those families who will love them without question.

"We need to get through this month’s lockdown and are asking you to be our heroes.

“It may be a pound, £10 or £100, every single penny will count and will make an invaluable difference to the dogs in our care.”

“Please support our dogs and be our lockdown lifeline.”
