Ken Geadall , 76, said: “I would like to thank ASDA click and collect staff Forest Town for their kindness shown to my wife Tina and I last Wednesday afternoon. Our car broke down with a flat battery.

“They were very supportive and helpful.

“We are in our mid 70s and our family was very worried about us actually going into shops – we were in a kind of a family lockdown.”

He added: “We have only been out about three times during the lockdown and of course the car suffered – the battery did at least.

“We arrived at the store for our slot and the staff loaded the shopping into the boot at about 3.15pm.”

But Ken said when they turned the ignition key to set off back, nothing happened.

Mr Gleadall added: “ We rang the recovery agency – they said 30 minutes to 90 minutes.

“But it turned up in three and a half hours later because there were that many cars broken down with battery problems they couldn’t tell us how long they would be.

“He eventually came and everything was sorted.

“The staff were really kind. There was no cafe open in she shop and they brought us a drink of tea out which I thought was very thoughtful. We would like to express special thanks to Natalie, Sarah and Athena.”
