Mansfield college students benefit from period equality initiative

Students at Mansfield’s Portland College received a donation of more than £200 worth of period products as part of a new Government initiative.

The phs Group, which are the leading hygiene services provider in the UK, are working with the Department for Education to supply every school and college in England with free period products to support the DfE’s plan to create period equality for all.

Mark Dale, Portland principal and CEO said: “We are grateful for the generous donation of period products for our learners and citizens.

"Period poverty is huge and a very real issue for many people. This fantastic initiative enables us to provide a safe and discreet place for our young people to access free products and support.”

A spokesman for phs said: “We’re working in partnership with the Department for Education to implement a new Period Product Provision programme which will ensure free period products are available to students who need them.”
