Mansfield care home launches pen pal initiative to spread smiles and friendship
Berry Hill Park Care Home in Mansfield has launched a heart-warming new pen pal initiative aimed at brightening the lives of residents through the simple joy of letter writing.
The initiative invites people from near and far to become pen pals with residents at the home on Berry Hill Lane, sharing stories, memories and everyday moments through handwritten letters filled with warmth and kindness.

Residents meet every two weeks to read their letters together and write thoughtful replies, with support from the home’s caring team.
The pen pal club offers residents the opportunity to make new friends, spark conversations and enjoy meaningful connections beyond the care home, while reminding them that a simple note can truly make someone’s day.

Briony Finney, wellbeing co-ordinator at the home, which is run by HC-One, said: “Our residents absolutely love receiving post and this initiative gives them something really special to look forward to.
"Writing and reading letters brings back happy memories, creates new friendships and helps everyone feel more connected.
"We’d be delighted to welcome new pen pals to help spread a little joy.”
Staff at the home are on hand to assist residents with reading letters and writing replies, ensuring everyone who wishes to take part can do so.

Anyone interested in joining the home’s pen pal club is encouraged to get in touch by calling 01623 421211 (option 2) and asking for Briony Finney or by emailing [email protected]
