We recently wrote about a number of our readers who had to miss their birthday celebrations due to coronavirus restrictions.

Carrie Austin, from Sutton, turned 40 on March 28 and had to cancel a celebratory night out with her friends, so had the idea of getting someone to perform, and broadcasting it live on facebook for everyone’s enjoyment.

Carrie is a huge Madonna fan, so contacted X Factor star Nicola Marie, who jumped at the chance to perform for Carrie’s friends and family.

Nicola, who got through to the judge’s houses of X Factor in 2012 now performs as a tribute artist, taking on the likes of Madonna, Lady Gaga and Amy Winehouse, in gigs around the world.

The watch party on facebook has been viewed by more than 17,000 people, and received thousands of grateful comments from those watching.
