Residents from Mansfield gathered to remember those lost in wars at a Remembrance Sunday commemoration in Mansfield.

Mansfield District Council marked the occasion on Sunday November 9 with a parade by service and uniformed organisations after a wreath-laying ceremony at the Civic Centre.

A service also took place at St Peter and St Paul’s Church for parade participants along with a two-minute silence.

The parade then marched to the Market Place and concluded with a salute in front of the Old Town Hall adorned with poppies.

The organisations taking part in the parade included the Royal British Legion (RBL), the Army, Royal Navy and Royal Air Force, local Cadet forces and Guides and Scouts.

Music was provided by the Mansfield & District Male Voice Choir.

Executive Mayor of Mansfield Andy Abrahams said: “Although more than a century has passed since the start of the First World War, it is still important to reflect and remember all those who have given their lives in wars and conflicts since 1914 and give thanks for the freedoms they have helped to preserve.”
