In pictures: Kimberley lights up for Christmas as hundreds attend switch-on event

The event featured Santa’s sleigh procession and Santa’s grotto, along with dancing from Train Withe Us, music and carols – including live performances from Heidi Fletcher-Smith – food, fairground rides and a fireworks display.

Pupils from Gilthill, Hollywell and Kimberley Primary Schools also helped contribute decorations for the Christmas Tree.

Posting on its Facebook page, Kimberley Council said: The turnout on was the biggest yet, we appreciate every single one of you who braved the cold to attend.

These events require so much time and hard work to put on, with countless hours dedicated by our events committee for no reward other than seeing all your happy faces.”

In its Facebook post, the council also thanked all those who had helped make the event such a success.
