'I worry there might be an accident': Calls for urgent repairs as ‘huge’ Bolsover pothole gets worse causing safety concerns
Residents in Bolsover say a pothole has been causing issues for a number of years with the council’s ‘patch’ repairs only fixing the problem temporarily.
A ‘huge’ pothole at Houldsworth Crescent has sparked safety concerns after a period of heavy rain saw the hole get deeper.

The issue has been reported to Derbyshire Council by at least four residents, but repairs have not been carried out yet.
Charlotte, one of the residents who contacted the council, said: “With the heavy rain it has got significantly worse.

"I worry that there might be a road traffic accidnet.
"It’s dangerous for the children who sometimes play on the street.
"It’s quite dark on the street at night as well so if somebody doesn’t see it and goes flying over it, there could be an accident.
"When lorries and large vehicles go over it, the noise is unbelievable.

"I have to drive up and down the street every day and I have to try to avoid it best I can, because I can’t afford to pay for car repairs.
“My partner’s previous car had some serious issues with suspension and we think that it was partially caused by this pothole.”
Charlotte said that pothole has been causing issues for a number of years with the council’s ‘patch’ repairs only fixing the problem temporarily.
She explained: “The same pothole gets worse every year.
"They come out and put some tarmac on it – it’s literally five-minute patch repairs.
"We asked for structural repairs many times, but they don’t repair properly, so opens up again and gets worse.”
Derbyshire Council confirmed that a number of residents have reported the pothole to the local authority.
The local authority promised to send highways inspector to Houldsworth Crescent immediately to have a ‘proper look’.
Coun Charlotte Hill (Ref), cabinet member for potholes, highways and transport, said: “We are aware that several residents have reported potholes on Houldsworth Crescent recently.
"We understand the issues potholes cause for residents, so we have asked a highways inspector to go and do a site visit so that we can take a proper look at the current situation.
"We thank residents for keeping us informed by proactively reporting issues into us.”
