Housebuilder helping Blidworth girl Evie get some new wheels

Persimmon Homes Nottingham gave £1,000 to Evie Carr, who was born with a rare brain migration disorder which left her wheelchair bound with cerebral palsy, epilepsy and other conditions.

Evie’s parents have been actively fundraising for a specialised off-road wheelchair after she had outgrown all high street alternatives.

Michelle Carr, Evie’s mum, said: “Evie is at her happiest when she is outside surrounded by nature.

“The outdoors is her tranquil place that keeps her calm and is essential to her wellbeing.

"We have exhausted all the high-street buggies and, as Evie grows, she simply needs a more specific chair to meet her needs that will also support her till her late teens.

“Fundraising during the current pandemic is difficult as so many people are experiencing their own unforeseen challenges.

"We are so grateful to Persimmon for their supporting us, it has given us a huge boost to raise the final £1,000 we need.”

The Nottingham team’s donation was awarded through the Persimmon Homes Community Champions initiative which sees the Mansfield-based business makes two donations of up to £1,000 every month to worthy causes.
