House closed in Sutton after persistent issues of anti-social behaviour

Police officers from the Sutton in Ashfield Neighbourhood Policing Team along with Ashfield District Council have closed a house in Sutton after persistent issues of anti-social behaviour.

A post on the Ashfield Police Facebook Page said: “Officers from the Sutton in Ashfield Neighbourhood Policing Team coordinated with Ashfield District Council and were able to gather evidence following reports of a serious incident and persistent anti-social behaviour on Beechwood Close, Sutton in Ashfield and put forward a bundle of evidence to Nottingham Magistrates Court on February 26, to close an address linked to the issues.

“The bundle was reviewed by the court, the evidence was assessed and the court granted a full closure order against the address.

“This now means that it is a criminal offence for any person to enter and remain at the address until May 25, 2026, while Ashfield District Council pursue reclaiming the property back from the original tenant.”

PC Norris, beat manager for the Stanton Hill and Skegby area said: “I had only recently become aware of the address, and having heard from residents some of the things they've had to put up with, and how long these issues of anti-social behaviour and disorder had been left to fester and grow unchecked, I knew something needed to be done urgently.

“I know that many residents were fearful of speaking to the police about the issues they face because of the address, but it is thanks to those residents that were willing to provide formal evidence to the police that we were able to get this address closed down.”
