As the school holidays start next Monday, there’s every excuse to lighten up this weekend and get in the mood for some holiday fun.
The countdown to Good Friday is on, and we’ve come up with a guide to events and activities taking place in the Mansfield, Ashfield and wider area over the next few days.
It’s a busy weekend in Mansfield, with an exciting ‘Superheroes And Princesses’ event on the Market Place and the latest Mansfield Mind Body Spirit Show, which has proved so popular that it is sold out.
It’s also the start of an exhibition about the old Granada cinema and music venue at Mansfield Museum, which hosts a makers’ market too. Close by, at the Palace Theatre, shows feature rock ‘n’ roll music from the 50s and 60s, and also Irish music and comedy.
For the kids, Easter is the theme at various venues, with egg hunts, art activities, storytelling workshops and even a chance to have breakfast with the Easter bunny.
Before you set off, please check the websites of the individual websites for opening times and admission prices.
Have a great eve-of-Easter weekend!

5. Easter egg trail with a difference
Creswell Crags Museum and Heritage Centre at Welbeck is holding its usual Easter egg trail, starting on Saturday and running until the end of the month. But it is one with a difference because eight eggs have been hidden around the crags as if by an Ice Age hunter, and each has a clue as to where the next one is. The Easter Rock Art Scavenger Hunt is open every day from 10 am to 5 pm. Photo: Submitted

6. Buy locally made gifts and crafts
Makers' markets are being held at Mansfield Museum on Leeming Street on the first Saturday of every month. And the biggest one yet takes place this Saturday (10 am to 3 pm) when visitors get the chance to buy locally made gifts and crafts. A whole range of items will be up for sale, and admission to the market is free. Photo: Submitted

7. Fun-filled hour of storytelling
For the start of the school holidays, storytelling workshops are being held for kids aged five to nine at local libraries. Hosted by professional theatre maker, Kitty Benford, they promise a fun-filled hour of satisfying young imaginations and bringing characters to life. The sessions are at Sutton Library (10.30 am) and Mansfield Central Library (2 pm) next Tuesday and at Kirkby Library (2 pm) next Wednesday. Photo: Submitted

8. Soothe the mind and free the spirit
Those lucky enough to have a ticket can''t wait for the latest Mansfield Mind Body Spirit Show at the John Fretwell Complex on Saturday. Already a sellout, the event features talks, stalls, workshops and 50 exhibitors, including alternative and complementary practitioners from around the UK. The exhibitors range from mediums to therapists, while topics covered range from shamanic drumming and crystal healing to homeopathy, Himalayan singing bowls and modern witchcraft. The organisers promise "a unique mix of entertainment, education and retail therapy". Photo: Submitted
