The week-long holiday starts on Monday, but the build-up begins now as we head into the weekend, so you are probably keen to find out about the events and activities on offer in the Mansfield and Ashfield area.
Our guide returns with a packed list of ideas for things to do and places to go. And it is dominated by the Nottingham Festival of Science and Curiosity.
Geared towards youngsters and families, the festival explores the wonders of science, technology, engineering and maths with interactive and fun events, and hands-on activities at libraries, museums and community spaces throughout the county.
But it’s not all about science. Music takes centre stage at the Palace Theatre in Mansfield, where fans of Queen, Northern Soul and country music should have a whale of a time.
The little ones are catered for with special reading and art sessions across the district, while popular venues such as Sherwood Pines and Creswell Crags host half-term fun too.
Please remember to check the websites of the individual venues to check opening times, admission prices and ticket availability.
Have a great weekend, and an even better half-term week!

5. Explore functions of the brain
A fascinating workshop at Sutton Library on Monday (1 pm to 4 pm) explores the different parts of the brain and what we use them for. Activities for children will include making 'brain hats', using playdough and a quiz. 'Lobes Of The Brain', presented by neuroscience students at Nottingham University, is part of the Nottingham Festival of Science and Curiosity, so please check its website for ticket availability. 6. Drop-in science activities
As part of the Nottingham Festival of Science and Curiosity, Mansfield Museum on Leeming Street hosts a day of hands-on activities next Wednesday (10 am to 3 pm). Families can simply drop in when they want to try a range of science and maths activities. What's more, the event is free! Photo: Submitted

7. Dolly Parton musical comedy
With a rip-roaring score by the queen of country, Dolly Parton (pictured), Mansfield Operatic Society presents '9 To 5, The Musical' at the town's Palace Theatre from next Wednesday until Sunday, February 19. Inspired by the iconic film of the 1980s, it is a hilarious production as three workmates are pushed to the limit by their sexist and egotistical boss. Photo: Submitted

8. Calling all tiny artists!
Do you have any tiny artists in your family? If so, these 'Little Creatives' workshops, funded by the Arts Council, could be ideal for you. They take place on Thursday (February 9) at 11.15 am at Blidworth Library and Edwinstowe Library and have been designed by professional artists specifically for children aged two to five and their families. Learn how to splodge, splat, scribble and squidge! Photo: Submitted
