Fundraiser for 23-year-old Rainworth man who died in Lincoln building site accident

A fundraiser has been started in memory of a 23-year-old man from Rainworth after he died at a Lincoln building site last week.

Police were called at 10.48am on Thursday, January 9, to a building site off Rudgard Lane in Lincoln, where a man was reported to have been injured in an industrial incident.

Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Service said the man had become trapped under a digger.

The 23-year-old man, who has been identified as Harry Cheston from Rainworth, died while working at a student accommodation site on West Parade.

According to tributes paid on the Gofundme page, he was due to become a father.

Loved ones have left tributes to Mr Cheston, after a JustGiving page was set up to help the young man’s family.

A tribute posted on the page set up by friend Luke Gowdy said: "Harry Cheston, 23 years old.

"Sadly died at work being trapped under a machine.

"No man deserves to go to work and not come home. He is due to have a baby very soon too.

"Anything to help his little family. Rest in peace, fella."

The page has surpassed its target of £2,000, and the total stands at £2,619.

Construction company Lindum Group said Mr Cheston was employed by Chesterfield-based Melfort Construction Services Ltd.

Herman Kok, Lindum Group secretary said: "We will be working closely with the HSE and emergency teams as they carry out their investigations into the tragic event and we will be supporting Lindum employees and other site personnel who have been affected.”
