Funding secured for Christmas lights in Ashfield village

Funding has been secured for Christmas lights to be installed in Stanton Hill.

The area will get 10 brand new 2.5-metre-high LED light columns in time for Christmas 2021 – and the money has been secured for the next four years.

Coun Helen-Ann Smith said: “Why should Hucknall, Kirkby and Sutton have all the fun? Residents have contacted me non-stop about the fact that there has been no Christmas Lights in Stanton Hill.

"I know that Christmas seems light years away, we’ve had to secure the money now. Residents will be delighted that we’ve finally got our lights.

Coun Jason Zadrozny, a former councillor for Stanton Hill, said: “I hope these lights will bring people into the area and that businesses benefit from additional footfall.”
