Eastwood Library to stay closed for now with no date yet for reopening
Eastwood Library will remain closed for the foreseable future with no date yet set for its reopening.
The building, on Wellington Place, was closed last month after, following a visit by Inspire – which runs Nottinghamshire libraries on behalf of the county council – to look at problems with the building, further investigations were deemed necessary and are currently being undertaken.

Posting on the library’s Facebook page, Inspire said: “We are very sorry that Eastwood Library remains closed at the present time and for any inconvenience this is causing you.
We don’t know when the library will be able to reopen.”
However, as a result of this, Inspire says several arrangments that have been put in place as a result of the clousre will remain in place.
These include temporarily extended opening hours at Kimberley Library from 9am to 5pm on Mondays and Fridays, 9am to 1pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays and 9am to 6pm on Thursdays.
Any reservations and book group books usually at Eastwood, will be available for collection from Kimberley Library.
The following Eastwood groups and activities will also continue to meet at Kimberley Library at their usual days and times as follows:
Rhyme Rattle & Roll on Tuesdays and Thursdays (term time only) from 10am to 10.30am
Chess Club on alternate Tuesdays from 10.30am to 12.30pm.

Crime café on the first Thursday of each month from 2pm to 3pm.
Lullaby bank on Mondays from 11.45am to 12.45pm.

Eastwood Volunteer Bureau also says it is business as usual, even though it cannot currently use its offices in the library building.
The bureau’s befriending and transport services are operating remotely and the food bank is open as usual from the car park containers at Wellington Place, on Fridays between 9am and 11am.
