A community champion is someone who dedicates some of their time to local people in Mansfield.

This could be as part of their job, as a volunteer or because they’re just the sort of person who rolls their sleeves up and gets stuck in.

Community champions will talk with local people about Coronavirus – especially those most vulnerable.

They’ll work with local people and support them to stay safe, look after themselves and look out for each other.

A council spokesman said: “By getting involved, you can help save lives in Mansfield and tackle unhelpful coronavirus rumours, fake news and untruths.

“The council is holding a Zoom cuppa on March 3 and we’re inviting everyone we think would make a great community champion to join us to hear a bit more.

There will also be guest speakers, including some health professionals, who’ll let us know how we can help others to protect the NHS, save lives and stop the spread.
