Coroner’s condolences to family of Langwith Junction woman

A coroner has expressed her condolences to the family of a young woman who died in Derbyshire.

Abigail Smith, 31, of Boundary Close, Langwith Junction, passed away at a house on Clowne Road, Shuttlewood, on October 2 last year.

The 31-year-old’s inquest was opened at Chesterfield Coroner’s Court on Tuesday.

Coroner Emma Serrano said her cause of death was listed as ‘methadone and alcohol misuse’.

She added: “I’d like to take this opportunity to express my condolences to Abigail’s family.”

Ms Serrano said a full inquest would take place at Chesterfield Coroner’s Court on June 22.

An inquest – which is held in an open court – is a limited fact-finding inquiry to establish who died, when they died, where they died and how they died.
