The Sandlands estate has organised a socially distanced, staggered Christmas light switch on attended by Princess Elsa, her sister Princess Anna and Olaf their sidekick snowman - all characters from the film Disney film Frozen.

Leah Clegg, of Little Princess Parties Ltd, will entertain residents dressed as the famous princess, along with her sister Rebekah Clegg and their dad Julian Clegg.

The characters will travel around the estate starting from the Goldcrest Road area in December – the date and time will be revealed closer to the event.

They will parade, sing songs, and conduct count-downs at various Christmas light switch-ons at individual homes. People are being encouraged to watch safely from their doorsteps and gardens and avoid crowding amid Covid 19 restrictions.

Organiser Leah Clegg said: “Given a second lock down, and Christmas approaching, we spoke about bringing our princess parade back! We just thought it would be something the children can get excited about.

"We wanted to say thank you! Everyone on the estate continuously supported us by sharing our posts and joining us at their doorsteps for singalongs. If we have any opportunity to give back to them, then it’s our pleasure.

“As a small local business, Covid has taken its toll. We have been able to adapt by creating a 15 minute doorstep visit, allowing us to still bring the magic to any little one whatever the occasion.

"Like everything in this current time, it’s not ideal, but it’s something. We’re lucky enough to be a small business that can still continue, and for that, we have our local estate to thank for greatly.”

Resident Lynsey Hanson said: “We are really hoping the community will get behind this fantastic festive event. It is just a way to cheer everybody up, to make people smile again.

"The Sandlands community is amazing, lots of people have already gone to huge efforts to put up their lights and decorate. We hope it is going to brighten everyone’s spirits. We hope people will stay safe and watch from their doorsteps and gardens. Throughout the lock downs, Leah’s business has been fantastic keeping people entertained.”
