College hosts special Christmas dinner for Sutton community

Academy Transformation Trust Further Education (ATTFE) College brought holiday cheer to the Sutton community by providing 175 Christmas dinners to individuals who might not otherwise have had a festive meal this holiday season.

The event, which was held in the Princess Suite at Sutton Community Academy, aimed to ensure that people in the local area could experience the warmth and joy of a traditional Christmas dinner.

Staff and Volunteers from ATTFE College, along with the support of Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service, Ashfield Fire Station, local clergy, the Duke of Edinburgh students from Sutton Community Academy, Sutton Inner Wheel, and the Sutton-in-Ashfield Rotary Club Santa, came together to prepare and distribute meals, fostering a spirit of community and kindness at the event.

In addition to the meals, Ashfield Fire Station, generously provided gifts and selection boxes for children and other attendees.

Reverend Peter Taylor from St. John’s Methodist Church, Sutton, and Lay Minister Jo Parr from New Cross Community Church contributed by reading prayers and involving attendees in a nativity prayer, enriching the event with a spiritual touch.

Meals were distributed to all attended by Sutton Community Academy Duke of Edinburgh students, who played a vital role in supporting the event. They delivered the lovely Christmas dinner and puddings and each and every one present thoroughly enjoyed the event.

Sutton-in-Ashfield Rotary Club Santa Claus came to the event to spread joy and cheer to children and other people in attendance enjoying their Christmas dinners. He handed out selection boxes to the attendees.

Liz Barrett OBE DL, Principal from ATTFE College, said: “We’re thrilled to have been able to make a difference this Christmas.

“It’s heartwarming to see the community come together and share the spirit of the season.

“Bringing home the true meaning of Christmas.”
