Charity that supports churches and other communities in Mansfield and Ashfield announces closure

A charity that supports churches and other organisations in the Mansfield and Ashfield area to help tackle poverty and other issues has announced its closure after failure to secure significant funding.

Transforming Nottinghamshire Together (TNT) will cease to operate with immediate effect, with the redundancy of the four staff who were contracted to the company.

Chair of Trustees, Bishop Peter Hill, said: “Our dedicated staff have been working effectively for over a decade equipping and drawing together the churches and many organisations in towns across the county who are at the forefront of helping people and communities to thrive.

“It is with heavy hearts that we had to acknowledge our resources were inadequate to move forward into the coming year.”

TNT performed a unique role, establishing and supporting networking groups in Mansfield and Ashfield and through its various sub groups; Homelessness, Children and Families, Finance and Debt, Social enterprises and employability, Refugees, Asylum seekers and Migrants, Food and Community, Modern Slavery, Health and Wellbeing and Prisons and supporting ex-offenders.

Mr Hill said: “We are grateful to the many people and trust funds who have supported our work, including the Diocese of Southwell & Nottingham and Church Urban Fund and apologise to those churches and groups who we have supported and who we will no longer be able to help.

“There is much still to do.”
