Bid to transform house in Mansfield into a children's residential home

According to the application, the house on King Street will provide “high quality care and support educational attainment, to encompass a wide range of provision to meet children and young people’s needs”, and will support “children and young people assessed as presenting with ESBD and/or other complex needs and behaviors.”

The three bed home, which is currently unoccupied, would employ six full-time and two part-time members of staff.

Applicant Sher Homes write in their application: “All children and young people will have a key worker who will work closely with them on a weekly basis, with tailored support hours, starting from 15 hours a week and increasing depending on level of support needed.

“Children’s and young people’s health and personal development will be encouraged through local community activities and participation in social activities.

“The home caters for children and young people of both sexes from the age of 10 and up to their 18th birthday.

“The home has two double bedrooms located on the first floor.

“Facilities available to young people include one shower and bath facilities on the first floor with a separate WC on the ground floor.”

“Boredom will never be an option for a young person living in the home. We are aware that a bored child accelerates behavioral issues and criminality if they are left to wander the streets.
