A 34-year-old man was subsequently arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and possessing Class B drugs.

Detective Inspector James Oakton, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “The victim of this attack is currently in hospital in a serious condition, so our first thoughts remain with him.

“We located a suspect and arrested them for attempted murder around two hours after this attack was reported, which we hope will provide the public with some reassurance.

“Despite this, we completely appreciate the concern this incident will generate in the community, so we will be providing a visible police presence in the area over the next few days.

“Our investigation into this stabbing remains ongoing though, so – as always – we'd ask that anyone who knows what happened or has any other information that could assist our inquiries shares this with the police immediately.

“We also want to hear from anyone who may have captured dash-cam, CCTV, doorbell, or mobile phone footage of the incident.”

This can be shared directly to the police by calling 101, quoting incident 851 of July 13, while Crimestoppers can also be contacted anonymously on 0800 555 111.
