Residents are appealing for information after the sudden death of a much-loved Nottinghamshire swan.

Bert, as he was fondly known by residents, has been an important part of the Warsop community for several years.

People were saddened to hear of his passing last week, and became concerned after his body mysteriously disappeared without trace.

Debra Barlow, councillor for Market Warsop ward put out an appeal for information via social media.

She said: “It’s come to my attention that Bert our male swan is dead.“If anybody has any factual information regarding the death of Bert or very importantly the whereabouts of the body of the swan please let me know.

“I’m aware of many ideas of what happened, but I need facts."
