Jenny Sneap let her seven-year-old cat Rusko out after she got home from a night shift on December 3 and has not seen him since.

After asking around her neighbours on Murray Street and Stella Street she was told one had seen Rusko get hit by a car and then run off into the bushes nearby. They said they tried to find him but could not.

Now Jenny is offering a £50 reward for anybody who can help find Rusko, ‘even if it confirms the worst’.

"I am really worried,” Jenny said. “He is like my child. He’s the funniest cat I have ever met. Even people who don’t like cats seem to like him.

"It’s really quiet in the house without him. I have another cat who is his sister and she has been really clingy without him. They are from the same litter and have been together all their lives.

"Our neighbour showed us CCTV of him being hit at 8.30am on December 3, but he wasn’t run over so he ran away. The car just hit his foot.

"I don’t blame the person driving because if you thought you had hit a cat and looked back and nothing was in the road you might think you had just missed them.

"I am not hopeful because it has been snowing and raining and he will have just been sitting somewhere feeling sorry for himself.

"I just want him back, even if it confirms the worst. He must be nearby somewhere. If somebody had found him and picked him up they would have taken him to the vets and we have checked all of them.”

Rusko is a white cat with a black fur pattern on his head that looks like a hat. He also has a black tail and was wearing a blue collar.

He left Jenny’s house on Murray street via his usual route through the back fence and crossed the road on Stella Street, where he was hit.
