Amazon staff in Sutton take a 'paws’ to welcome furry friends on site

Employees at Amazon in Sutton welcomed some new four-legged friends to the site’s fulfilment centre as part of a workplace wellbeing programme.

As part of a series of events to mark Mental Health Awareness month, a group of Amazon employees enjoyed having therapy puppies at the fulfilment centre for some serotonin-boosting workplace sessions.

Rachel Walker, an employee who attended the sessions, said: “The sessions were a really enjoyable experience.

“Spending time with the puppies and colleagues was a great way to take part in something a bit different together.”

Hannah Hawke, site leader, added: “We are committed to supporting the wellbeing of our teams and were pleased to mark Mental Health Awareness Month with a number of events, including welcoming these special little guests to our building.”

Community donations and employee volunteering are just two of the ways Amazon supports the communities where it operates.

Amazon co-founded the Multibank initiative with former Prime Minister Gordon Brown to support families in need.

The initiative has donated more than 12 million surplus goods to more than 800,000 families and this year, the Multibank will send one million orders to families across the UK.

Amazon has supported more than one million students across the UK with free STEM education programmes through Amazon Future Engineer and helps community organisations transport meals and other essentials to families in need through its pro bono logistics programme, Amazon Local Good.

Amazon partners with Comic Relief and is the official home of the charity’s iconic Red Nose.

Together with its employees, customers, and partners, Amazon has raised over £4.8m to fund projects that support people across the UK, and around the world.
