5. Rock again with Dire Straits
As you can see, Mark Knopfler is still going strong. But you can relive the days in the 80s and 90s when he fronted Dire Straits, one of the most successful rock bands of all time, as tribute group dS:uK take to the stage at Mansfield's Palace Theatre on Friday. 6. Visit Santa in his grotto
Pre-booking is required, but Santa is in his grotto and waiting to see the kids at Mansfield's Four Seasons Shopping Centre every day now until Christmas Eve. Each booking has a capacity for up to four children. Ho ho ho! Photo: Submitted

7. Go on a Christmas adventure
As Christmas draws near, the Sundown Adventureland theme park at Rampton has been converted into a winter wonderland. Climb aboard one of Santa's sleighs and take a magical journey through the enchanted forest. Visitors even get the chance to meet the big man himself. Photo: Submitted

8. Explore the area by bike
The Dukeries Cycle Trail, which links Mansfield and Worksop, is an ideal way of getting out and about to explore the local area. Covering a total of 32 miles, the route starts in Shirebrook and wends its way through the former ducal estates of Clumber, Welbeck and Thoresby. Photo: Submitted
