Childs, who joined Nottinghamshire Police in 2007, was suspended from duty after his arrest in 2013. The force will now proceed with the next stage of the internal discipline proceedings.

Childs has been bailed and is set to be sentenced at Leicester Crown Court on 3 September 2015.

Stephen Mitchel, senior HR manager, said: “We expect all of our officers and staff to act with the highest professional standards and integrity this clearly includes Police Community Support Officers. The public should rightly feel able to trust us and where this falls short, we will look to take action.

“Childs did not display any of the values that we expect in Nottinghamshire Police, and preyed on an underage teenage girl for his own sexual gratification. He broke the law, and no one is above the law and committing offences while in a position of trust is inexcusable.”
