Parkinson’s support event

Parkinson’s UK – the support and research charity committed to finding a cure and improving life for everyone affected by Parkinson’s - is inviting people from across the county to join them for an Information and Support Event on Wednesday 14th September in Retford.

The event is free for anyone in the area who is affected by Parkinson’s, and people can meet members of the Parkinson’s UK regional team, local Information and Support Workers, and other professionals. There will be a talk on Parkinson’s research, and workshops will include support from Parkinson’s UK, carers issues, living with Parkinson’s, exercise, power of attorney and benefits.

Laura Bowey, Information and Support Manager, at Parkinson’s UK, said: “Every hour someone in the UK is told they have Parkinson’s, but at the moment there is no cure.

“This event is a great opportunity to meet staff from Parkinson’s UK and local Parkinson’s health professionals, to find out what support is available, and to meet other people living with the condition. You can join us in making sure that no one has to face Parkinson’s alone.”

Booking for the event is essential – for further information and to book a place, please contact Laura Bowey on tel. 0844 225 3622 or email

Parkinson’s is a degenerative neurological condition and there is currently no cure. For some people having Parkinson’s can be a frustrating and isolating experience.

People who are unable to attend the event can still get information and support from Parkinson’s UK – through local Information and Support Worker Julia Robinson on tel. 0844 225 3792 or through the free confidential helpline on 0808 800 0303 or visit
