Oppose plans, say firefighters

Alfreton firefighters are urging the public to oppose plans to close Alfreton Fire Station, forcing the town to share two engines with Ripley, Heanor and Crich.

The Transforming Service Delivery 2022 consultation proposes all four towns share two fire engines operating from a central Ripley station.

Derbyshire Fire Brigades Union (FBU) members say the plans will mean the loss of 16 fire engines, 11 fire stations and 100 full-time firefighters.
