Stags Fan Blog: The game against Fleetwood

Well this will be a test for me today to find the positives from this one as I saw my team taken about by a side that looked hungry and wanted it but it wasn’t the Stags.

Before the sending off of Rob Duffy the game was very interesting and was level at 1-1. Adam Murray made it look very easy when he headed the ball home after nearly 40 minutes. But in the second half were seem to fall apart like a house built of cards I know it is harder to play when you are a man down but a lot of side get their heads together and find the strength to continue playing good football but we didn’t we just gave up. I found it hard to watch but I stayed until end because I was never going to leave early as some fans chosen to do which is their right.

Duncan needs to take a long hard look at the DVD of this game and see what we all could see in the West Stand that there was a very big hole on the left hand side of the defence where Kevin Sandwith plays Fleetwood always did the same when they wanted to get a shot on the goal. The midfielders would push the ball on their left side pass the ball across to the right then put the ball in where Kevin should be and then cross the ball in Magno Viera which he duly slotted home on three separated occasions. Fleetwood you will probably know playing in red and white and play at Highbury well they looked very much like Arsenal with the way they played last night and pull us apart.

I know it is just one game but when you put it together with the result at Grimsby and the loss at home to bottom of the table Altrincham I am beginning to worry that the players are losing the confidence and believe that they can win games. It is hard writing a blog and saying negative stuff about the club but it has to be said whatever happens for the rest of season we really do need to look at what players should be here at the club and who should be shown the door in the summer off season. This I believe is when John Radford will be able to get his feet well under the table because at the moment we are very busy with fixtures and have just 19 days left of the January transfer window. We will be able to get new players in but we won’t have enough time to make the changes we need to build a brand new squad for the run-in. I think John had it right when he said it was a five year plan he had set himself for getting us up and back into the football league. I am very interested to see how the rest of this season will pan out and then what happens once the season ends I think this is when we will see the chairman flex his muscle.

So a break from the league on Saturday and into Trophy action with the visit of Newport County this will be a tough test for the Stags with Newport just about us in the league and going from strength to strength.

I have my ticket for this one already and I ready for Saturday to roll around and get back to my seat in the Ian Greaves Stand I am not worried what other fans around think I will remain positive and try to see the bright side of life on and off the field. I think I will booked my ticket for the play-off finals in May anyone else?
