Stags Fan Blog: The game against Eastbourne

Well we have a win in 2011 it took all three attempts but we have done it must have been the sea air or maybe the fact I took my lucky rabbit’s foot but the short trip to Eastbourne was well worth the trip with the Stags showing they wanted to put the Grimsby and Altrincham game very much in the past.

They seemed to be wearing a very dark blue strip which looked very smart but the change of kit seemed to bring a change of names on the back of them with this young lad Williams playing in the number 15 shirt he was very good and seemed to have a good footballing brain I am sure we had this lad called Ryan Williams who was a good little midfielder and low and behold it was him it was good to see him back in Mansfield colours after his loan to Gainsborough Trinity.

Duncan Russell made a number of changes to the side that played against Altrincham and it seemed to do the trick it was still hard work but it was a match that the Stags really did need this win to get back on track we are still in amongst the play off race this month will be a big one as we have three games at home and a long trip to Darlington on the 25th.

The defence did look better with Steve Foster and Tom Naylor taking the central defenders roles for this one. Steve has all the experience of a man who has travelled around the league ladder and then there is Tom who is full of youth and looking to get in the first eleven he really did use this game to try stake a claim to it. I watched these guys seemed to find the way to work together and play as a team it was great to see Steve take the lead and then Tom playing his part. I would like to see this continue but it is not me picking the side that is Big Duncan’s job.

So i was reading last week that Mansfield travelled to the B2Net Stadium on Wednesday to play Chesterfield and beat them 3-2 on their own ground. Nice one Stags there are no friendlies in my eyes I am laughing as I wrote that last part.

Stars of the Eastbourne game apart from the boys I have already mentioned are Keigan Parker, Adam Murray and Kevin Pilkington. I heard something for the first time since Kevin joined the club he was bossing his box and sorting his defenders out. Keigan finally get his reward for the hard work in put in to the game with a goal and Adam just played his socks off as usual and also picked the reward of a goal.

So on the return journey this little blogger was a very happy bunny but that could just be the company he had with him all day you know who you are lucky charm and you will have to keep coming to the games because she has been to two games and the stags have won both of them and we have see them score eight goals and concede only two. You will have to come again

So I would love to see all of you come down to Field Mill and really get behind the boys they need you to come out and show them you are behind whatever the results I myself have not missed any games home or away this season yet this includes all of the pre-season games so come Mansfield get behind your team and make some noise.
