Political Opinion: Lee Anderson MP: Keir Starmer has failed on both Foreign & Home Affairs

We are told by some of Keir Starmer's supporters that for all his failures in the UK - and there are far too many to list in this column - that he is apparently thriving on the world stage. This week has torn that argument to shreds.
Labour's Chagos surrender has been completely exposed by US President Donald Trump. Labour told us that we had no choice but to surrender these islands to Mauritius, despite being an undisputed British overseas territory that hosts a UK-US military base. Now that the Americans have discovered that they are actually doing this for no reason at all, other than a foreign court suggesting that we should, they are understandably annoyed with us. There is absolutely zero necessity to cede sovereignty of these islands, and to top it off, Labour's deal would mean the UK would pay billions of pounds to Mauritius for the privilege. This is one of the worst deals in modern British history. It is a betrayal of the Chagossians that live there, a betrayal to the British taxpayers, and a betrayal to our closest ally, America.
Meanwhile, this week Keir Starmer has approved the Chinese super-embassy in a spineless decision that will compromise our security for decades. For years the security agencies have warned about Beijing’s espionage, yet Starmer still gave the green light to a spy-hub that sits over some of the most sensitive data cables in London. This is simply a desperate attempt by the Labour Government to cosy up to the Chinese Communist Party.
In both of these cases, the Chinese Communists are the beneficiaries, who are already eyeing up the Chagos Islands. After President Trump has just spent the week warning the world about the threat of Chinese influence, it is no wonder why the Anglo-American special relationship suddenly appears to be in tatters. The Tories are equally culpable, as they were the ones that started the negotiations with Mauritius, and sold the plot of land to China for their new embassy.
Back at home, Reform UK has won the right to challenge the Government in the courts on the cancelled local elections. This means that the cancellations will be suspended pending the outcome of a judicial review. We said we would fight Labour every step of the way on this and we are doing so. We are determined to win this case which will be happening next month. Cancelling elections are shameless acts of self-preservation, with Tory and Labour Councils colluding with the Labour Government to take away people's right to vote them out. Rest assured that Reform UK will continue to fight for British citizens, even when we are not in Government.
These stories have resulted in the Labour Government's approval rating dropping to -56%. Meanwhile, Reform UK are still at the top of polls, and we are hastily preparing for Government, and to take over and fix this country. Only a Reform Government led by Nigel Farage will end this madness.
